HEBER CITY, Utah-Wasatch High School football senior star tailback Zak Thacker was honored by the Deseret News this week for his heroics on the gridiron.
Thacker earned the publication’s MountainStar Health Care male athlete of the week award by leading the Wasps to a 28-27 win over Springville October 16, securing the Wasps a third-place finish in the highly competitive Region 8 and a home playoff game against Hillcrest October 25.
In the win over the Red Devils, Thacker ran for 190 yards and a pair of scores on 34 carries.
Thacker is responsible for 45 percent of the Wasps’ offense this season.
Thacker has exceeded 100 rushing yards in six straight games for the 6-4 Wasps.
