HEBER CITY, Utah-Thursday evening, two long-time distinguished Wasatch High School employees were inducted into the Wasatch High School Hall of Fame as part of the annual induction ceremony.
Wasatch County School District Superintendent Paul Sweat announced the inductions of John Moss and Gary Turner into this fraternity that honors remarkable individuals who have dedicated their time and talents to the betterment of Wasatch High School students.
Moss is a familiar voice to Heber Valley Radio listeners as he has broadcasted various Wasatch High School sports on the radio, most prominently football and baseball recently.
Moss taught English and journalism at Wasatch High School for 33 years. He also pioneered the high school’s television broadcasting program into one of the more premier models in the country.
Over the course of 17 years, Moss organized travel study trips to New York City annually wherein the students were able to participate in such programs as ABC’s Good Morning America.
Moss has impacted the lives of thousands of students and in their words, his biggest impact lies within the life lessos he has taught them.
Turner is a long-time mathematics teacher at Wasatch High School. Over the course of 40 years, he installed courses in AP Calculus, AP Physics and AP Chemistry at the school.
He has also assisted students with the academic decathlon for 20 years and has received numerous awards in his years at Wasatch High School. Among them are the ACE award in 2003 and the lifetime achievement award from the Utah Council of Teachers of Mathematics in 2017.
He has also served as president of the Utah Science Teachers Association.
