OGDEN, Utah-Juan Carlos Negret put the game away in the top of the 8th Inning with a 2-run homer and the Idaho Falls Chukars downed Ogden 6-2 in Game 2 of the Pioneer League championship series Saturday at Lindquist Field.
Rhett Aplin added a pair of RBI on a sacrifice fly and an RBI single for the Chukars, who have forced a winner-takes-all Game 3 Sunday at Lindquist Field.
Anthony Veneziano earned the win on the mound for Idaho State as in four innings of work, he amassed five strikeouts, while surrendering no hits.
Marco Hernandez homered and Andrew Shaps added an RBI double in the loss for the Raptors.
Sunday’s de facto championship game will have a 4:00 pm opening pitch.
