GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.-Andrew Shaps hit the go-ahead home run in the top of the 9th Inning as the Ogden Raptors doubled up the Grand Junction Rockies 2-1 Sunday in the first round of their Pioneer League championship series at Suplizio Field.
The game was scoreless until the 6th Inning, when Ogden went up 1-0, while Jeremy Arocho walked with bases loaded, scoring Sauryn Lao.
The Rockies responded in the bottom of the 6th with a solo home run for Colin Simpson.
Jacob Cantleberry earned the win on the mound for Ogden as the Raptors took a 1-0 lead in this best-of-three series.
The Raptors will host Grand Junction Monday at 6:30 pm at Lindquist Field as they seek to complete the sweep against the Rockies and advance to the Pioneer League championship series against either Billings or Idaho Falls.
Incidentally, the Chukars, as the road team at Billings, Mont., took a 1-0 lead with a 2-0 win over the Mustangs.
