WHS starts September with Active Shooter Drill

According to Wasatch School District email from Kirsta Albert, Wasatch High School was closed this morning for a brief, but important Active Shooter Drill. In an email to parents, Albert notified, “There will be a lockdown drill at 9:40 a.m. & will be lifted at 9:45 a.m. Please do not try to access the school until 9:50.” The drill was quickly and quietly performed as Administer Adam Hagen addressed teachers over the school wide intercom to turn off lights and lock doors. At the end of the drill, Hagen again addressed the teachers over the intercom of the all clear. In case of a real emergency Hagen reminded students and teachers that classrooms would be cleared by official security personnel. Wasatch School District Safe School Policy includes the following statement:

“The School Board authorizes the administration to take appropriate action to protect and preserve order among the students and staff and to uphold school policy. Acts of violence, use or possession of a weapon or facsimile,
criminal behavior, and gang activity in or about district schools, property, transportation, or activities shall be dealt with in accordance with district policy and the law.”
