Wasatch Football’s Mike Sanford Appears on KMYU Channel 12 Wednesday Evening

SALT LAKE CITY-Wednesday evening, Wasatch High School football offensive coordinator Mike Sanford appeared on Talkin’ Sports on KMYU Channel 12 with KUTV sports anchor Dave Fox.

Sanford said he wanted to go to Heber City because of past ties with Wasps head coach Steve Coburn.

He told Fox of the arduous experiences he had in moving 19 times in 42 sesaons of coaching and wanted to settle down.

The Heber Valley appealed to him because he knew Todd Johnson, Wasatch High School assistant principal Ryan Bishop and Wasatch County School District administrator Shawn Kelly.

Sanford said the Wasps may use some of the spread offense techniques he employed at the Univesity of Utah, and perhaps even some triple option innovations as the season progresses.

Sanford told Fox he will teach leadership training at Wasatch High School and said he was also an instructor at Indiana State University when he coached the Sycamores from 2012-2016.

Sanford mentioned that quarterback Parker Quinton is valuable to the Wasps as he “plays quarterback like a linebacker,” and also mentioned receiver/reserve signal-caller Jake Gillman on the show.
