SALT LAKE CITY-Deven Marrero, Eddy Alvarez, Jesus Sanchez and Peter O’Brien each had RBI for the New Orleans Baby Cakes as they routed the Salt Lake Bees 8-2 Sunday at Smith’s Ballpark in Pacific Coast League baseball action. Nick Neidert earned the win on the mound for New Orleans, improving to 2-2 on the season. The Baby Cakes improved to 60-51 with the win. Michael Hermosillo homered and Nick Franklin added an RBI single in the loss for the Bees, dropping them to 49-64.
Pioneer League
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.-Jimmy Titus, Andy Pages and Andrew Shaps each had RBI as the Ogden Raptors overpowered the Rocky Mountain Vibes 5-1 Sunday at UCHealth Park in Pioneer League baseball action.
Jeronimo Castro earned the win on the mound for the Raptors, improving to 3-0 on the season, while Ogden enters the All-Star break at 37-10. Edwin Sano had an RBI sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 9th as the 21-26 Vibes averted the shutout.
OREM, Utah-Jose Verrier had a 3-run homer and Will Wilson added a 2-run shot as the Orem Owlz routed Grand Junction 9-1 Sunday at UCCU Ballpark in Pioneer League baseball action. The Owlz also scored on a fielding error and a passed ball as they improved to 15-32 on the season. Kelvin Moncion earned the win on the mound for Orem, as he improved to 2-1. Kevin Arias had a solo home run in the loss for the Rockies, as they fell to 25-22.
