SALT LAKE CITY-Jesus Sanchez homered twice and Isan Diaz hit his 26th home run of the season as the New Orleans Baby Cakes overpowered Salt Lake 10-6 Friday at Smith’s Ballpark in Pacific Coast League baseball action. A Diaz RBI double in the 4th Inning set off an 8-0 New Orleans run which concluded in the top of the 7th Inning on an Eddy Alvarez RBI single. The win improved the Baby Cakes to 58-51 on the season. Joe Gunkel improved to 4-1 on the seaosn in the win for New Orleans. Justin Bour and Jared Walsh homered in the loss for the Bees, as they fell to 49-62.
Pioneer League
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.-Zac Ching’s 7th Inning sacrifice fly RBI lifted the Ogden Raptors to a 1-0 win over the Rocky Mountain Vibes in the first game of a day-night doubleheader at UCHealth Park Friday in Pioneer League baseball action.
Jeff Belge earned the win on the mound for the Raptors, as he improved to 2-0 on the season. The Raptors improved to 35-9 with the win and the Vibes fell to 20-24.
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.-Brando Wulff, Brandon Lewis and Zac Ching each homered as the Ogden Raptors blew past Rocky Mountain 11-5 in the second game of a day-night doubleheader in Pioneer League baseball action Friday at UCHealth Park. Cesar Mendoza’s 7th Inning RBI double punctuated the sweep for the Raptors as they improved to 36-9 on the season. Antonio Hernandez improved to 3-0 on the season for the Raptors as he took the win on the mound. Cam Devanney and Luis Avila had RBI in the loss for the Vibes, dropping them to 20-25.
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.-Colin Simpson homered twice and Brenton Doyle also went yard as the Grand Junction Rockies blanked Orem 7-0 Friday at Suplizio Field in Pioneer League baseball action. Simpson also had an RBI single for the Rockies, while Christian Koss and Owen Taylor added RBI for the 24-21 Rockies in the win. Mitchell Kilkenny earned the win on the mound for Grand Junction, as he improved to 2-1. The Owlz slumped to 14-31 with the loss.
