AUSTIN, Texas-Friday, Wasatch High School alum and BYU junior Talem Franco competed in the finals of the 1500-meter run at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field championships.
After a strong surge in the final lap, Franco’s energy began to fade down the stretch as he placed 11th overall in the race (3:46.20).
Earning the national championship in the event was Notre Dame sophomore Yared Nuguse, who edged Michigan State senior Justine Kiprotich (3:41.381-3:41-3:48.344).
This concludes a successful season for Franco, who has one more year of eligibility to compete for head coach Ed Eyestone at BYU.
