Tanker Truck Rollover at Deer Creek

Tanker Truck Rollover at Deer Creek

A tanker truck hauling butane rolled into Deer Creek Reservoir Tuesday creating a cleanup situation on U.S. Highway 189 and the reservoir. The highway to be closed a second time at 3:30 p.m. Utah Highway Patrol officials say that’s to remove the butane and truck from the scene. That closure is expected to remain in place until at least Tuesday evening. No clear details about what caused the crash, but UHP officials said the driver of the truck was not injured. Officials are working a “delicate” cleanup situation. Water from Deer Creek is used in Utah County. Crews have been on scene cleaning up the crash for several hours. Wasatch County Fire PIO Janet Carson tells 945 The Peak that a hazmat unit was dispatched to the scene to assist in the cleanup.
