Heber City Council is scheduled to make a decision tonight on the VXC development, on a 70 acre parcel that may include 220 new homes to be built by Ivory Homes. The area is currently in the Wasatch County, with a two unit per acre zoning mandate. Alpine Development, begin working with the city over a year ago to change zoning in the area, and requested that the city consider annexation of the property and adjust the designation to R-1, R-3, R-cosy and remove commercial zoning from property along Highway 40.
That request has come under criticism from neighbors, stating concerns with increased traffic and impact to a nearby water spring that provides water for neighboring livestock. Planning Director Tony Kohler is recommending the council approve the request, in-spite of the annexation committees concerns that the approval is preliminary and could set a precedent of zoning before the annexation Master Plan is finalized. Heber City Council begins with a work study at 4 pm today followed by their regular Council meeting at 6 pm in council chambers at the Heber City Offices.
