Four talented educators were honored earlier this week as they retire from teaching this year including John Moss, Robin Knight, Gary Turner and Michael Dorsey. These teachers have taught thousands of students over several decades of service during their tenure at Wasatch County School District. John Moss is retiring after 33 years as the TV Broadcast teacher at Wasatch High School. Moss piloted the program in 1989, as well as being instrumental in the development of the school newspaper, the Vespine, teaching high school English, coaching football and track, serving as the district communication specialist and creating thousands of news articles and videos sharing valuable information about the district. Robin Knight received her teaching endorsement after raising five children in the school district and brought a zest and love for learning into her teaching. She was a reading specialist and middle school language arts teacher. Knight is known for her contagious smile and can do attitude. Gary Turner is wrapping up his tenure at Wasatch School District after 40 amazing years teaching higher levels of mathematics and physics. Turner spent many years encouraging students at Wasatch High School to increase their aptitude for math, and developed an award winning academic decathlon program that has been at the top of the state podium for over thirty years. Michael Dorsey spent 40 years teaching special education, first in New Jersey and then in the Jordan School District, until he found his place at Rocky Mountain Middle School. Dorsey is a chess king, and passed along his love for strategy to the students, with his encouragement the chess club has received honors at the statewide competition. These teachers leave a lasting legacy on the students and associations of teachers and parents that have had the honor of working and learning from them. Congratulations and thank you for your service to our community.
