PROVO, Utah-Thursday, the Wasatch High School boys and girls track and field teams concluded the Region 8 championships. The girls placed fourth with 96 points and the boys were fifth with 65 points.
The Timpanogos boys took the team title with 180 points and the Springville girls edged Skyridge (136.5 points-132.5 points) to take the crown.
Annie Hill took the title in the girls’ 100-meter hurdles (16.26) and Ellie Martindale placed fourth (16.26).
The Wasatch girls also won the 4 x 400 relay crown (4:05.23). In this event, the Wasps were paced by Sydney Price, Miranda Ross, Jennifer Lythgoe and Sydney Hales.
In the girls’ long jump, Karissa Bingham placed fifth (15-09.75), Makayla Bastos was eighth (14-09), Hedda Olholt finished ninth (14-08), Anzlei Larsen placed 10th (13-11.50) and Lexi Vernsey placed 14th (13-08.75).
In the girls’ shot put, Ellie Tuddenham placed ninth (28-09) and Quincy Olney finished 11th (28-06).
Olney placed second in the girls’ javelin (103-08) and Tuddenham finished third (99-03) with Ellie Martindale finishing 12th (81-01). Livi Rand placed 15th (79-11) and Erika Fredericks finished 16th (79-01).
In the boys’ discus, Parker North placed ninth (110 feet), Jay Nelson placed 11th (102-04), Seth Heaton finished 13th (101-03) and Enrique Ferreyra placed 15th (100-08).
In the girls’ 3200-meter run, Abbie Randall placed second (11:39.05) and Hailey Ellis finished 11th (13:03.15).
In the boys’ 3200-meter run, Jake Giles placed 21st (11:01.11) and Brock Coombs finished 26th (11:21.20).
In the boys’ 110-meter hurdles, Connely Hill placed third (17.24) and Caleb West placed fifth (17.52).
Kaden Smith finished fifth in the boys’ 100-meter dash (11.60).
In the girls’ 4 x 100, Wasatch placed fifth (51.46). The Wasps were represented by Lucy Clawson, Jennifer Lythgoe, Callie Griffith and Miranda Ross in this event.
In the boys’ 4 x 100, the Wasps placed fifth (45.55) as Kaden Smith, Hayden Stocking, Peter Meuzelaar and Samuel Lemon represented Wasatch in this event.
In the girls’ 400-meter dash, Sydney Hales placed second (59.40) and Jennifer Lythgoe finished eighth (1:01.29).
In the boys’ 400-meter dash, Mack Hinckley placed second (50.77) and Bentley Ackerson finished seventh (52.67).
In the boys’ 300-meter hurdles, Caleb West placed sixth (43.52), Connely Hill finished seventh (44.20) and Nathaniel Foote placed eighth (44.32).
In the girls’ 800-meter run, Anna Baird finished 11th (2:29.27), Madelyn King placed 16th (2:33.21), Lotte Pensky placed 18th (2:33.77) Brooke Sargent placed 24th (2:36.90), Savanna Dorrough placed 26th (2:38.10) and Grace Neal finished 31st (2:45.42).
In the boys’ 800-meter run, Kellin Olsen placed fourth (2:01.69), Carson Guymon finished 18th (2:08.99), Josh Horner placed 19th (2:09.26), Brayden Guymon finished 25th (2:10.56) and Ethan Huntsman placed 31st (2:18.49).
Jennifer Lythgoe placed eighth in the girls’ 200-meter dash (27.81).
Connely Hill finished eighth in the boys’ 200-meter dash (23.95).
The Wasatch boys placed second in the 4 x 400 relay (3:30.84) as Matt Johnston, Mack Hinckley, Bentley Ackerson and Kellin Olsen were the stars for the Wasps in this event.
In the girls’ discus, Erika Fredericks placed 7th (86-07) and in the girls’ high jump, Lexi Vernsey placed third (4 feet-9 inches), Alisha Maxwell placed fifth (4 feet-9 inches), Annie Hill finished sixth (4 feet-9 inches), Karissa Bingham placed 7th (4 feet-7 inches) and Rachel Noyce placed 13th (4 feet-5 inches).
In the boys’ shot put, Jay Nelson placed fourth (43-11), Braxton Turner placed 10th (37-01) and Enrique Ferreyra finished 14th (35-04.50).
Finally, in the boys’ javelin, Jay Nelson finished fifth overall (140 feet).
