PROVO, Utah-Mitch McIntyre and Abraham Valdez each had 2 RBI apiece in the bottom of the 8th Inning as the BYU Cougars overpowered Oregon 7-3 Tuesday at Miller Field in non-conference baseball action.
Entering the 8th Inning, the Cougars trailed 3-2 before McIntyre and Valdez’s heroics.
The win was BYU’s first against the Ducks since the 1979 season although Oregon still leads the all-time series 6-4.
Freshman hurler Reid McLaughlin improved to 4-0 on the season for the Cougars.
The Cougars return to West Coast Conference action March 28 as they host the Saint Mary’s Gaels for a three-game set.
