PROVO, Utah-Gabe Gutierrez netted 16 points and 6 rebounds as the Provo Bulldogs used a 21-12 4th Quarter run to come back and beat Wasatch 59-57 Tuesday in Region 8 boys basketball action.
Will Harris netted 22 points in the loss for the Wasps while Lance Gehring was named as the defensive player of the game by Tyler Moss and Tyler Baird on the Wasatch broadcast for a key blocked shot in the first half.
The loss dropped the Wasps to 11-11 and 4-4 in Region 8 play as they return to the Nest Friday to host the Springville Red Devils.
Girls Basketball
PROVO, Utah-Lavender Briggs amassed 29 points and the Provo Bulldogs edged Wasatch 46-44 in Region 8 girls basketball action Tuesday. Tori Dorius posted 14 points and 13 rebounds in defeat for the Wasps as they fell to 16-7 to conclude their regular season as well as 7-3 in Region 8 play.
Next Tuesday at 9:30 am, the Wasps will play in the first round of the 5-A state tournament at Salt Lake Community College against an opponent yet to be determined.
