DENVER-Tuesday, Utah Valley University men’s cross country standout Kevin Lynch was named as the Western Athletic Conference men’s athlete of the week.
Lynch, a junior out of Sandy, Utah and Hillcrest High School, won the UC Riverside men’s 8-K Invitational at Riverside, Calif. in a time of 23:58.20.
This helped the Wolverines finish second place overall in a field of 21 schools competing.
The women’s WAC cross country athlete of the week is Hungarian national Anett Somogyi of Cal Baptist, who placed second overall for the Lancers in the women’s 6-K at Riverside in a time of 20:19.80.
Lynch’s honors are the first a Utah Valley cross country athlete has earned this season. The Wolverines’ men and women are next in action September 28 at the Notre Dame-hosted Joe Piane Invitational of South Bend, Ind.
