ST. GEORGE, Utah-Late Monday, Dixie State women’s volleyball player Lauren Gammell was named as the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference’s defensive player of the week.
Gammell, a 6-2 right-side hitter middle blocker out of Spanish Fork, Utah and Spanish Fork High School, helped the Trailblazers to a 3-1 record last week, including wins over #18 Tarleton State and fellow RMAC member Colorado-Colorado Springs.
In the Trailblazers’ 3-1 win over Western New Mexico, Gammell posted 10 blocks in a 3-0 sweep of the Mustangs last Friday.
Overall, she averaged 6.5 blocks over the past week.
