Miss Wasatch County Scholarship Pageant Slated For This Saturday

HEBER CITY, Utah-Per a report in the Wasatch Wave, a new Miss Wasatch County will be crowned Saturday.

The pageant, titled “The Greatest Show,” is slated for 7:00 pm at the Wasatch High School Auditorium.

This is the first event during the Wasatch County Fair’s festivities and consists of five talented young ladies vying for the crown and a scholarship.

This competition is comprised of lifestyle and fitness in swimsuit, talent, on-stage performance, questioning and evening wear.

The personal interview portion of the proceedings will occur earlier this afternoon and the winner will go on to compete in the Miss Utah Pageant in June 2019.

There are five contestants and the first is Nina Tita, the daughter of Andre and Maribel Tita. She is a 2018 graduate of Wasatch High School and will attend the University of Utah this upcoming fall. She is studying communications with an emphasis in journalism and aspires to be a broadcast journalist. Her platform is “Justice for Journalism.”

The second contestant is Rylie Motley, the daughter of Ryan and Annette Motley. She competes with the platform, “Dance To Make A Difference,” which consists of helping children with parents affected by alcoholism.” She is currently attending Utah Valley University and is studying to become a registered nurse.

The third contestant is Catarina Lindberg, the daughter of Maria Fonesca. Currently, she is a sophomore at Utah Valley University and hopes to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Communications as well as a business associate’s degree. She aspires to be an esthetician and makeup artist. She is competing with the platform “Stress Less: Reduction of Chemical Stress on the Body.”

The fourth contestant is Olivia Kelson, the daughter of Wade and Jennifer Kelson who will be attending Marymount College of New York City this upcoming fall and study dance and psychology. She hopes to dance professionally and obtain a graduate degree in psychology. She competes with the platform, “Be sm-ART” : Advocating for the Arts in Elementary and Middle Schools.

Finally, the fifth contestant is Ellie Edwards, the daughter of Tyler and Brittoni Edwards who will be attending BYU-Idaho in the fall. She has hopes of becoming a professional violinist and ensue in teaching the violin thereafter. Her platform is “Be Bright. Be Happy. Be You.”

The reigning Miss Wasatch County, Anna McMaster will serve as co-emcee along with the Master of Ceremonies, Corbin Gordon.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for children (4 and up). Children 3 and under get in for free.

Should you purchase tickets from any of the contestants or the Parks and Rec Office, you will be admitted into the auditorium an hour early at 6:00 pm.

All other tickets purchased at the door will allow the audience to be seated at 6:30 pm.
