5A Bracket Play @ UVU

Bracket 1 

OREM, Utah-Pratt Morley homered and the No. 1 Spanish Fork Dons overpowered No. 4 West Field 10-9 at UCCU Ballpark Thursday to win Bracket 1. Brady Penland, Wyatt Penrod and Andrew Hurst drove in three runs apiece in defeat for the Longhorns. Spanish Fork next faces crosstown rival, No. 2 Maple Mountain, Friday at 4:00 pm at UCCU Ballpark in the 5A baseball championship bracket.

Bracket 2

OREM, Utah-Kye Ward drove in three runs and the No. 2 Maple Mountain Golden Eagles outlasted No. 3 Pleasant Grove 6-5 to win Bracket 2 Thursday at UCCU Ballpark. Tavake Wolfgramm homered in the loss for the Vikings.

Softball

5A Championship Bracket @ BYU 

PROVO, Utah-Leila Stevenson homered and the No. 1 Salem Hills Skyhawks smoked No. 2 Box Elder 9-2 Thursday at Gail Miller Field on the campus of Brigham Young University in the first game of the 5A championship bracket. Jocile Norman posted a strikeout in seven innings of work to earn the win in the circle for the Skyhawks. Maclee Willard and Madeline Jeppsen drove in a run in defeat for the Bees. The squads meet again Friday at 11:00 am at Gail Miller Field for the second game in the series. If the Skyhawks win this game, they are state champions. If Box Elder prevails, the Bees and Skyhawks will meet in a de facto state championship game Friday at 4:30 pm.
