SOUTH JORDAN, Utah-Jake Holton homered and the Sacramento River Cats downed Salt Lake 5-2 Tuesday at The Ballpark at America First Square to start a new series.

Carson Whisenhunt posted eight strikeouts in six innings of work to earn the win on the mound for the River Cats.

Chris Taylor and Jose Siri each drove in a run for the Bees in the loss.

Following Tuesday’s results, the River Cats improved to 15-11 and the Bees slumped to 11-17.

The squads return to action for the second game in the series Wednesday at 6:35 pm at The Ballpark at America First Square.
