SOUTH JORDAN, Utah-Jax Biggers drove in a pair of runs and the Sugar Land Space Cowboys edged Salt Lake 2-1 in the first game of a doubleheader Saturday at The Ballpark at America First Square in Pacific Coast League play. Josh Hendrickson netted six strikeouts in five innings of work to earn the win on the mound for the Space Cowboys. Denzer Guzman drove in a run in defeat for the Bees.
Salt Lake secured a series split as Chris Taylor drove in three runs in the Bees’ 8-3 win over the Space Cowboys in the nightcap.
José Fermin earned the win on the mound for the Bees, posting three strikeouts in 1.2 innings of work.
James Nelson homered in the loss for the Space Cowboys.
Following Saturday’s results, the Bees improved to 8-12 and the Space Cowboys fell to 12-8.
Salt Lake goes for the series win in Sunday’s conclusion while Salt Lake seeks the series split.
Opening pitch is slated for 2:05 pm at The Ballpark at America First Square.
