KANSAS CITY, Mo.-Monday, BYU star freshman guard/forward A.J. Dybantsa was named as the Big 12 freshman of the year.
Dybantsa averaged 24.7 points and 6.7 rebounds per game for the Cougars this season while shooting 51.2 percent from the floor.
Additionally, Arizona men’s basketball head coach Tommy Lloyd was named as the Big 12 Coach of the Year as the Wildcats won a program-record 29 regular season games this season.
Arizona senior shooting guard Jaden Bradley was named as the Big 12 player of the year by averaging 13.4 points per game for the Wildcats.
Kansas sophomore center Flory Bidunga (2.7 blocks per game) was named as the conference’s defensive player of the year.
Kansas senior guard Melvin Council Jr. (13.4 points, 5.2 assists per game) was named as the conference’s Newcomer of the Year as well Monday.
Arizona senior center/forward Tobe Awaka (9.6 points, 9.5 rebounds per game) was named as the conference’s Sixth Man of the Year.
Texas Tech sophomore guard Christian Anderson Jr. (19.2 points, 7.8 assists per game) was named as the Most Improved Player of the Year in the conference.
