CEDAR CITY, Utah-Monday, Southern Utah men’s basketball junior shooting guard Tanner Hayhurst earned WAC Newcomer of the Week honors after the Thunderbirds defeated Utah Tech 81-67 last Saturday.
Hayhurst, a 6’6″ guard out of Eagle, Idaho, posted a career-high 25 points on 8/11 from the floor and 5/8 behind the arc in leading SUU to the decisive victory over the Trailblazers.
Hayhurst averages 10.5 points per game and shoots almost 52 percent from the floor on the season for the Thunderbirds.
Hayhurst and his SUU teammates return to action Thursday at home against Utah Valley.
