Utah Gov. Spencer J. Cox speaks during a COVID-19 briefing at the Utah State Capitol in Salt Lake City on Friday, Jan. 8, 2021. Cox unveiled a plan Friday to ramp up Utah's COVID-19 vaccine distribution as the state sees a post-holiday surge in new cases. Cox, a Republican, said he will issue an executive order requiring facilities to allocate their doses the week they are received and have local health departments manage distribution, with an expectation of administering 50,000 doses a week. Utah Governor Slams Federal Regulator Over Prediction Markets

(Undated) — Utah Governor Spencer Cox is criticizing a top Trump administration regulator over efforts to block state regulation of prediction markets. Commodity Futures Trading Commission Chair Mike Selig announced yesterday the agency would challenge any state attempt to regulate the markets, saying oversight belongs solely to federal authorities. Cox pushed back on social media, calling the platforms “gambling, pure and simple,” and accusing them of destroying families and harming Americans. Cox says prediction markets have no place in Utah, while Selig responded that the federal government “will see you in court” if its authority is challenged.
