OGDEN, Utah-Monday, Weber State head football coach Eric Kjar announced the hiring of Gavin Fowler as the Wildcats’ new defensive coordinator.
In this role, he will also coach Weber State’s safeties.
Fowler is a former Davis High School star out of Kaysville, Utah and comes to the Wildcats’ program after serving as BYU’s assistant safeties coach last season under then-defensive coordinator Jay Hill.
Fowler, the son of former BYU quarterback and various Cougars sports TV analyst Blaine Fowler, played defensive back at BYU from 2011-2018.
Gavin Fowler is a 2017 graduate of BYU and earned his Master’s from BYU in 2020.
Gavin Fowler was also the Cougars’ defensive analyst/safeties coach from 2022-24 and was a graduate assistant in 2019-21.
