BYU Men’s Basketball’s AJ Dybantsa Earns Big 12 Weekly Awards Tuesday

IRVING, Texas-Tuesday, BYU men’s basketball freshman star forward AJ Dybantsa was named the Big 12 Player of the Week and Newcomer of the Week per a statetment released by the conference.

Dybantsa is the first Cougar in program history to sweep both of these awards since BYU joined the Big 12 in 2023.

In BYU’s 109-81 win over Eastern Washington December 22, the native of Brockton, Mass. posted 33 points, 10 rebounds and a career-high 10 assists to become the second Big 12 player in conference history to post a 30/10/10 game.

Dybantsa presently is first in the Big 12 and second nationally with 23.1 points per game and has scored in double figures every game this season for the Cougars.

Dybantsa and his BYU teammates commence the conference season Saturday at Kansas State.
