5A State Semifinals @ Rice-Eccles Stadium
SALT LAKE CITY-Kaue Akana hauled in 5 receptions for 105 yards and a score and the No. 4 Orem Tigers blitzed No. 1 West 34-7 in the 5A state semifinals Thursday at Rice-Eccles Stadium. Aisa Galea’i added a 45-yard scoring run in victory for Orem while Easton Kajima and Max Stonebreaker also ran for scores in the win for the Tigers. Additionally, Tayden Ka’awa threw touchdown passes to Akana and Lopeti Matai’tini Moala J Aka Juni in the rout for Orem. Kamden Lopati threw a 4-yard touchdown pass to Derendrick “Junior” Dixon in the loss for the Panthers. Orem next plays for a 5A state title Thursday November 20 at Rice-Eccles Stadium against No.3 Springville at 6:30 pm.
SALT LAKE CITY-Tua Naufahu ran for 103 yards and a score on 15 carries and the No. 3 Springville Red Devils outlasted No. 7 Brighton 30-24 at Rice-Eccles Stadium Thursday in the 5A state semifinals. Lisiate Valeti ran for two more scores in victory for Springville and Max Harris added another touchdown run for the Red Devils in the win. Zachary Henderson (4 rec, 111 yards) also led Springvile in victory. William Little ran for two scores in defeat for the Bengals.
