COTTONWOOD HEIGHTS, Utah-Ryce Palepoi threw four touchdown passes and the No. 7 Brighton Bengals pounded No. 10 Granger 49-9 Friday in the second round of the 5A state playoffs. Owen Griffin threw a 75-yard touchdown pass to Kingston Patolo in the loss for the Lancers. Brighton next visits No. 2 Fremont Friday at 6:00 pm in the state quarterfinals.
PLAIN CITY, Utah-Manase Tuatagaloa threw three touchdown passes and the No. 2 Fremont Silverwolves outlasted No. 15 Alta 31-27 in the second round of the 5A state playoffs Friday. Tucker Brown threw three touchdown passes in the loss for the Hawks.
WOODS CROSS, Utah-Jesse Simmons threw a 13-yard touchdown pass to Ryder Miller and Teiyon Halsbach ran 67 yards for another score as the No. 5 Woods Cross Wildcats bested No. 12 Olympus 13-6 Friday in the second round of the 5A state playoffs. Colter Rollins made field goals of 38 and 30 yards in the loss for the Titans. Woods Cross next visits No. 4 Orem Friday at 6:00 pm in the state quarterfinals.
OREM, Utah-Kayden Ta’awa threw three touchdown passes and the No. 4 Orem Tigers overpowered No. 13 Timpview 40-22 Friday in the second round of the 5A state playoffs. Cole Engemann threw three touchdown passes in defeat for the Thunderbirds.
SALT LAKE CITY-Louie Hamilton ran for six scores and the No. 1 West Panthers pummeled No. 17 Northridge 56-13 in the second round of the 5A state playoffs Friday. Grant Slater and Makai So’o ran for scores in the loss for the Knights. West next hosts No. 9 Bountiful Friday at 6:00 pm in the state quaterfinals.
WEST JORDAN, Utah-Siaki Fekitoa ran for three scores and Hudson Malmrose tossed a pair of touchdown passes as the No. 9 Bountiful RedHawks outlasted No. 8 West Jordan 34-32 Friday in the second round of the 5A state playoffs. Ayden Dunn threw two touchdown passes in defeat for the Jaguars.
SPRINGVILLE, Utah-Tua Naufahu ran for a pair of scores and caught a touchdown pass as the No. 3 Springville Red Devils routed No. 19 Spanish Fork 49-14 in the second round of the 5A state playoffs Friday. Nixon Warren threw two touchdown passes in defeat for the Dons. Springville next hosts No. 6 Box Elder in the state quarterfinals Friday at 6:00 pm.
BRIGHAM CITY, Utah-Judd Howells ran for three scores and the No. 6 Box Elder Bees dismantled No. 11 West Field 35-13 Friday in the second round of the 5A state playoffs. Easton Eilertson threw two touchdown passes in defeat for the Longhorns.
