SOUTH JORDAN, Utah-Braiden Ward, Sterlin Thompson, Aaron Schunk, Kyle Karros and Zac Veen drove in a run apiece and the Albuquerque Isotopes downed Salt Lake 8-2 Thursday in Pacific Coast League play at The Ballpark at America First Square. Connor Van Scoyoc netted two strikeouts in 3.1 innings of work to earn the win on the mound for the Isotopes. The Bees scored on a wild pitch with Matthew Lugo crossing the plate in the 1st Inning and Yolmer Sánchez scored on a fielding error in the bottom of the 6th. The Isotopes took a 2-1 series lead and improved to 40-57 while the Bees fell to 37-61. The squads return to action Friday at 7:05 pm at The Ballpark at America First Square.
Pioneer League
OGDEN, Utah-Christopher Sargent Jr. homered and the Ogden Raptors edged Boise 5-4 in Pioneer League play at Lindquist Field Thursday to earn at least a series split against the Hawks. Nik Cardinal pitched one inning for the Raptors and secured the win. Jeremiah Begora drove in two runs in the loss for the Hawks. Following Thursday’s results, the Raptors improved to 31-25 and the Hawks fell to 32-25. With a win Friday, the Raptors can not only secure the series win but surpass Boise in the Pioneer League standings as well. Opening pitch is slated for 6:30 pm at Lindquist Field.
