TACOMA, Wash.-Leo Rivas and Jack López homered and the Tacoma Rainiers blasted Salt Lake 10-1 Tuesday in the first game of this three-game series at Cheney Stadium. Jhonathan Díaz posted four strikeouts in 6.2 innings of work to earn the win on the mound for the Rainiers. Matthew Lugo drove in a run in the loss for the Bees. The second game of the series is Wednesday at 8:05 pm MDT at Cheney Stadium.
Pioneer League
IDAHO FALLS, Idaho-Christopher Sargent Jr. and Carmine Lane homered and the Ogden Raptors smoked Idaho Falls 12-5 Tuesday in the first game of a 3-game Pioneer League series at Melaleuca Field. Shane Gustafson netted a strikeout in five innings of work to earn the win on the mound for the Raptors. Simon Baumgardt and Spencer Rich homered in the loss for the Chukars. Following Tuesday’s results, the Raptors improved to 21-16 and the Chukars fell to 24-13. Of the Chukars’ 13 losses on the season, five have come at the hands of the Raptors. The squads return to action Wednesday at 7:05 pm at Melaleuca Field.
