LAS VEGAS-Carlos Cortes, Brett Harris, Nick Martini and Jhonny Pereda each homered and the Las Vegas Aviators completed a sweep of Salt Lake with a 16-5 win over the Bees Sunday at Las Vegas Ballpark. Luis Morales netted nine strikeouts in five innings of work to earn the win on the mound for the Aviators. Ben Gamel homered twice and Chad Stevens also went yard in the loss for Salt Lake. Following Sunday’s results, the Aviators improved to 44-24 and the Bees slumped to 26-42. Salt Lake has lost 16 of their last 19 games. The Bees hope to turn the tide Tuesday when they open a six-game homestand against the Sacramento River Cats. Opening pitch is at 7:05 pm at The Ballpark at America First Squre.
Pioneer League
OGDEN, Utah-Michael O’Hara drove in two runs and the Oakland Ballers downed the Ogden Raptors 7-4 Sunday at Lindquist Field in Pioneer League play, completing a three-game sweep. Caleb Franzen posted two strikeouts in 1.2 innings of work to earn the win on the mound for Oakland. Christopher Sargent Jr. homered in defeat for Ogden. Following Sunday’s results, Oakland improved to 16-8 and Ogden fell to 11-13. The Raptors return to action Tuesday at Idaho Falls for a six-game series against the Chukars. Opening pitch is at 7:05 pm at Melaleuca Field.
