LAS VEGAS-Colby Thomas and Gio Urshela each homered and the Las Vegas Aviators smoked Salt Lake 8-1 in Pacific Coast League play Thursday at Las Vegas Ballpark. Jack Perkins netted 12 strikeouts in 6.1 innings of work to earn the win on the mound for the Aviators. Carter Kieboom drove in a run in defeat for Salt Lake. Following Thursday’s results, the Aviators, who improved to 41-24, achieved at least a series split. Meanwhile, the Bees slumped t0 26-39 and have lost 13 of their last 16 games. The Bees seek to reverse the trend Friday at 8:05 pm MDT in the fourth game of the series at Las Vegas Ballpark. With a win, the Aviators secure the series win.
Pioneer League
OGDEN, Utah-Evan Blum homered and the Ogden Raptors swept the Great Falls Voyagers with a 9-6 win Thursday at Lindquist Field in Pioneer League play. Shane Gustafson netted six strikeouts in four innings of work to earn the win on the mound for the Raptors. Roman Kuntz homered in the loss for the Voyagers. Ogden improved to 11-10 in victory while Great Falls slumped to 2-19. The Raptors stay at home throughout the weekend as they entertain the Oakland Ballers Friday-Sunday at Lindquist Field. Opening pitch on Friday is slated for 6:30 pm.
