(Salt Lake City, UT) — Utah officials and religious leaders are honoring the late Pope Francis. Governor Spencer Cox ordered flags at state buildings lowered to half-staff until sunset after the Pope’s burial. Senator John Curtis praised the Pope’s humility and global impact, while the LDS Church’s First Presidency expressed gratitude for his “courageous and compassionate leadership.” Father Martin Diaz with the Cathedral of the Madeleine called Francis “this wonderful friend for the whole world.” A Memorial Mass is planned at the Cathedral tonight at 5:15.
