5A State Second Round Playoffs
HOLLADAY, Utah-Gavin Lowe posted 20 points and the No. 2 Olympus Titans routed No. 15 Wasatch 66-49 in the second round of the 5A state playoffs Friday. Nate Hinckley’s 14 points led the Wasps in the loss. Olympus next faces No. 7 Springville Tuesday at 12:50 pm in the state quarterfinals at the Huntsman Center.
SALT LAKE CITY-Jack Anderton netted 23 points and the No. 4 Highland Rams downed No. 13 Cyprus 62-52 Friday in the second round of the 5A state playoffs. Beckham Bayles led the Pirates in the loss with a game-high 27 points. Highland next faces No. 5 Bountiful Tuesday at the Huntsman Center at 9:30 am in the state quarterfinals.
BOUNTIFUL, Utah-Charlie Smith recorded 17 points and 11 rebounds and the No. 5 Bountiful Redhawks smacked No. 12 Woods Cross 69-50 in the second round of the 5A state playoffs Friday. Elliot Bendinger led the Wildcats in the loss with 14 points.
OREM, Utah-Chance Dastrup’s 16 points led the way and the No. 1 Orem Tigers smacked No. 16 Maple Mountain 69-39 in the second round of the 5A state playoffs Friday. Nash Jackson led the Golden Eagles in the loss with 12 points. Orem next draws No. 9 Brighton Tuesday at 11:10 am in the state quarterfinals at the Huntsman Center.
DRAPER, Utah-Bradley Easton recorded 23 points and the No. 9 Brighton Bengals upset No. 8 Juan Diego 69-60 Friday in the second round of the 5A state playoffs. Stockton Young led the Soaring Eagle in the loss with 21 points.
SPRINGVILLE, Utah-Andrew Miller stepped up with 24 points and the No. 7 Springville Red Devils waxed No. 10 Skyline 71-47 in the second round of the 5A state playoffs Friday. Cameron Wilson led the Eagles in the loss with 12 points.
PROVO, Utah-Callen Tollestrup led the way with 16 points and the No. 3 Timpview Thunderbirds stonewalled No. 14 Kearns 67-31 Friday in the second round of the 5A state playoffs. Kaden Stark’s 8 points paced the Cougars in the loss. Timpview next faces No. 6 Alta Tuesday at 2:30 pm in the state quarterfinals at the Huntsman Center.
SANDY, Utah-Dash Reiser netted 16 points and the No. 6 Alta Hawks edged No. 11 Viewmont 51-48 in the second round of the 5A state playoffs Friday. Jacob Jeppesen and Drezdon Jensen posted 13 points apiece in defeat for the Vikings.
