OREM, Utah-Monday, Utah Valley junior forward Dominick Nelson was named the WAC Player of the Week and the WAC Newcomer of the Week for his contributions to the Wolverines’ success this past week.
Nelson, a native of Miami and a transfer from NCAA Division II Polk State (Fla.), averaged 20.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game while shooting 57 percent from the field and just under 63 percent behind the arc in wins over California Baptist and Seattle U.
Nelson is averaging 15.4 points and 5.5 rebounds per game on the season for the Wolverines.
Nelson and his UVU teammates return to action Saturday by visiting Grand Canyon as the WAC season ensues.
