(Salt Lake City, UT) — New research shows drinking coffee can lower the risk of certain cancers. The University of Utah School of Medicine research published in the journal Cancer shows people who drank more than four cups of coffee a day, compared with folks who don’t drink coffee, had a 17 percent lower odds of neck and head cancer, 30 percent lower chances of mouth cancer and they are 22 percent less likely to get throat cancer. Researchers used data from prior studies involving thousands of people with cancer and thousands who are healthy.
