5A State Championship @ Rice-Eccles Stadium
SALT LAKE CITY-Siaka Fekitoa ran for four touchdowns and the No. 2 Bountiful RedHawks downed No. 1 Roy 42-35 to win the 5A state football championship Thursday at Rice-Eccles Stadium. Emerson Geilman threw a touchdown pass and ran for another score in the win for Bountiful. Dru Gardner threw a touchdown pass and ran for another score in the loss for Roy. Logan Cella added two touchdown runs in defeat for the Royals and Ryker Cordero returned a kickoff 47 yards for another score in defeat for Roy. The RedHawks have now won six state championships in football and broke a 21-year championship-less streak.

LAYTON, Utah-Peyton Behnke posted 19 points and the Wasatch Wasps blitzed Layton Christian 65-33 in non-region girls basketball play Thursday. Ava Smith led the Eagles in defeat with 9 points.
