5A State Semifinals @ Rice-Eccles Stadium
SALT LAKE CITY-Dru Gardner threw a pair of touchdown passes and the No. 1 Roy Royals bested No. 4 Timpview 29-19 in the 5A state semifinals at Rice-Eccles Stadium Friday. Colby Frokjer made field goal attempts of 38, 48 and 53 yards for the Royals in victory. In defeat, Soakai Aston threw a touchdown pass to Jaron Pula and Luke Thornock made three field goals for the Thunderbirds. Roy next faces No. 2 Bountiful Thursday at 11:00 am for the 5A state championship.
SALT LAKE CITY-Siaki Fekitoa, Emerson Geilman and Brock McSwain each ran for scores and the No. 2 Bountiful RedHawks downed No. 3 Brighton 24-8 Friday at Rice-Eccles Stadium in the 5A state semifinals. Landon Zayas also added a 32-yard field goal in victory for Bountiful. Mason Haertel ran 4 yards for a score in defeat for the Bengals.
