WEST JORDAN, Utah-Hutch Solomon ran for two scores and the No. 19 Wasatch Wasps upset No. 14 West Jordan 29-21 Friday in the first round of the 5A state playoffs. Brody Hulme returned an interception 22 yards for a score for the Wasps and Teague Fritzsche made three field goals in victory for Wasatch. Tyson Demke threw two touchdown passes in the loss for the Jaguars. Wasatch next visits No. 3 Brighton in the second round of the state playoffs. Kickoff is tentatively slated for Friday at 6:00 pm. SALT LAKE CITY-Izaiah Holley threw six touchdown passes and the No. 12 West Panthers routed No. 21 Taylorsville 68-14 Friday in the first round of the 5A state playoffs. Cole Kramer threw two touchdown passes in defeat for the Warriors. West next visits No. 5 Orem Friday at 6:00 pm in the second round of the state playoffs.

SALT LAKE CITY-Marcus Loertscher caught a pair of touchdown passes and returned an interception 53 yards for another score as the No. 9 East Leopards routed No. 24 Skyline Friday in the first round of the 5A state playoffs. East next visits No. 8 Viewmont Friday at 6:00 pm in the second round of the state playoffs.

WOODS CROSS, Utah-Jesse Simmons ran 34 yards for a score and the No. 11 Woods Cross Wildcats downed No. 22 Cedar Valley 35-27 Friday in the first round of the state playoffs. Landon Johnson threw a 15-yard touchdown pass to Cole Christensen and Brayden Jakins returned an interception for a score in the loss for the Aviators. Woods Cross next visits No. 6 Olympus Friday at 6:00 pm in the second round of the state playoffs.

WASHINGTON TERRACE, Utah-The No. 18 Alta Hawks upset No. 15 Bonneville 38-22 Friday in the first round of the state playoffs. Alta next visits No. 2 Bountiful Friday in the second round of the state playoffs at 6:00 pm.

SPRINGVILLE, Utah-Easton Leavitt threw two touchdown passes and the No. 13 Springville Red Devils waxed No. 20 Highland 24-7 Friday in the first round of the state playoffs. Lisiate Valeti added a 7-yard run for a score in the win for Springville. Jonathon Zafra contributed a 37-yard field goal in the win for Springville. Charlie McConkie returned an interception 31 yards for a score in defeat for the Rams. Springville next visits No. 4 Timpview Friday in the second round of the state playoffs.

LAYTON, Utah-Tre Nye threw two touchdown passes and ran for a pair of scores and the No. 10 Northridge Knights dismantled No. 23 Hunter 35-21 Friday in the first round of the state playoffs. Isaac Fonua ran for two scores in defeat for the Wolverines. Northridge next visits No. 7 Maple Mountain Friday at 6:00 pm in the second round of the state playoffs.

BRIGHAM CITY, Utah-Maka Sonasi and Sunia Fifita each ran for scores and the No. 17 Granger Lancers edged No. 16 Box Elder 26-23 in the first round of the state playoffs Friday. Carter Buchanan ran for two scores and returned an interception 25 yards for another score in the loss for the Bees. 5A State Championship @ Zions Bank Stadium

HERRIMAN, Utah-The No. 1 Olympus Titans outlasted No. 2 Brighton 0 (4) – 0 (2) on penalty kicks to win the 5A state girls soccer championship Friday at Zions Bank Stadium. The Titans have now won five state championships in girls soccer (1994, 1995, 1996, 2020, 2024).
