Toxic Algae At Deer Creek Reservoir

(Heber City, UT) — Officials are warning people to avoid the Deer Creek Reservoir near Heber City following the discovery of toxic blue-green algae. The algae can make humans and pets very sick, and can even be deadly in some cases. While the area is still open to visitors, officials advise against swimming or water skiing, and they say you should be extra careful if fishing in the reservoir. Blue-green algae typically looks like spilled green paint or pea soup.
