SALT LAKE CITY-Trenton Brooks homered and the Sacramento River Cats pounded Salt Lake 13-0 Tuesday at Smith’s Ballpark in Pacific Coast League play to open a six-game series.
Trevor McDonald posted five strikeouts in six innings of work to earn the win on the mound for Sacramento.
The River Cats outhit the Bees 19-2 on the evening in the decisive victory.
Following Tuesday’s results, the River Cats improved to 72-61 while the Bees fell to 61-71.
The squads return to action for the second game of the series Wednesday at 6:35 pm at Smith’s Ballpark.
