Baseball

5A State Championship Series @ UVU

OREM, Utah-Bennett Averett drove in three runs and the No. 2 Maple Mountain Golden Eagles outgunned No. 1 Brighton 12-9 to take a 1-0 lead in the 5A state championship series Friday at UCCU Ballpark. Sawyer Leifson posted three strikeouts in two innings of work to earn the win on the mound for the Golden Eagles. Cooper Scott drove in three runs in the loss for the Bengals. Game 2 in the series is Friday at 11:00 am at UCCU Ballpark.

Softball

5A State Championship Game @ BYU

PROVO, Utah-Lia Higginson, Tatum Hall  and Alyce Archuleta drove in two runs apiece and the No. 1 Spanish Fork Dons blitzed No. 2 Springville 9-1 to win the 5A state championship Friday at Miller Field. Allyx Haveron drove in a run in defeat for the Red Devils. Spanish Fork has now won 10 state titles in softball in school history. The Dons have state softball championships in 2000, 2006, 2011, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024.

5A State Championship Series @ BYU

PROVO, Utah-Jayeda Carter recorded 2 RBI and Olivia Carroll drove in another run as the No. 1 Spanish Fork Dons outlasted No. 2 Springville 6-5 to force a Game 3 in the 5A state championship series at Miller Field Friday. Lucy Evans posted four strikeouts in seven innings of work to earn the win in the circle for the Dons. Allie Fowler drove in three runs in defeat for the Red Devils.

Game 3 is slated for Friday at 4:30 pm at Miller Field. This will be the de facto 5A state championship game.

Boys Lacrosse

5A State Championship @ Zions Bank Stadium

HERRIMAN, Utah-The No. 1 Brighton Bengals overpowered No. 3 Park City 10-3 Friday to win the 5A state boys lacrosse championship at Zions Bank Stadium. This was the Bengals’ 120th all-time state title in school history but their first in boys lacrosse.
