5A Bracket Play @ UVU

Bracket 1 Play

OREM, Utah-Jack Saba hit a 3-run homer in the bottom of the 7th and the No. 1 Brighton Bengals eliminated No. 4 Springville 4-2 in 5A state baseball bracket 1 play at UCCU Ballpark Wednesday. Miles Layton posted six strikeouts in seven innings of work to earn the win on the mound for Brighton. Easton Barrett and Kaden Tingey drove in a run apiece in defeat for the Red Devils. The Bengals will next play No. 2 Maple Mountain Friday at 4:00 pm in the best-of-three 5A state championship series at UCCU Ballpark.

Bracket 2 Play

OREM, Utah-Bennett Averett and Cy Chrisman homered and the No. 2 Maple Mountain Golden Eagles edged No. 6 Salem Hills 6-5 Wednesday in 5A state baseball bracket 2 play at UCCU Ballpark. Cayden Giles posted a strikeout in three innings of work to earn the win on the mound for the Golden Eagles. Kason Averett drove in two runs in defeat for the Skyhawks.

One-Loss Bracket

OREM, Utah-Roper Kay homered and the No. 6 Salem Hills Skyhawks clobbered No. 14 Box Elder 15-3 in the 5A baseball one-loss bracket Wednesday at UCCU Ballpark. Dagen Gammell posted four strikeouts in three innings of work to earn the win on the mound for the Skyhawks. Landen Golmon drove in two runs in defeat for the Bees. The Skyhawks next face No. 2 Maple Mountain Wednesday at 4:30 pm at UCCU Ballpark.

OREM, Utah-Ashtyn Tate, Mason DeLlamas, Braxton Hughes and Easton Van Sickle drove in two runs apiece and the No. 4 Springville Red Devils outlasted No. 5 Orem 9-7 Wednesday at UCCU Ballpark in the one-loss bracket. Tate posted five strikeouts in 5.1 innings of work to earn the win on the mound for the Red Devils. Merrick Bostock drove in two runs in the loss for the Tigers. Springville next faces No. 1 Brighton Wednesday at 7:00 pm at UCCU Ballpark.

Boys Lacrosse

5A State Semifinals @ Westminster

SALT LAKE CITY-Andrew Salinas recorded five points and four goals and the No. 1 Brighton Bengals routed No. 5  Northridge 19-3 Wednesday in the 5A state boys lacrosse semifinals at Westminster. Cache Petersen, Finn Mohr and Rusty Baldwin each scored in defeat for the Knights. Brighton next faces No. 3 Park City Friday at 8:00 pm at Zions Bank Stadium for the 5A state championship.

SALT LAKE CITY-Harold Birch posted four points and three goals and the No. 3 Park City Miners upset No. 2 Olympus 7-6 in the 5A state boys lacrosse semifinals at Westminster Wednesday. Charlie Droitsch netted three points and three goals in the loss for the Titans.

Softball

5A Bracket Play @ Taylorsville Complex

TAYLORSVILLE, Utah-Alyce Archuleta had 2 RBI and Jayeda Carter drove in another run as the No. 1 Spanish Fork Dons dismantled No. 4 Box Elder 4-1 in 5A softball bracket play Wednesday at the Taylorsville Complex. Maclee Willard homered in the loss for the Bees. Spanish Fork will play No. 2 Springville in the 5A state championship best-of-3 series. It starts Thursday at 4:00 pm at Miller Field on the campus of Brigham Young University.

TAYLORSVILLE, Utah-Brooklynn Zajac drove in three runs and the No. 2 Springville Red Devils bested  No. 3 Bountiful 10-7 Wednesday in 5A softball bracket play at the Taylorsville Complex. Ryann Haveron earned the win in the circle for Springville.

One-Loss Bracket 

TAYLORSVILLE, Utah-Melissa Turpin drove in a pair of runs and the No. 3 Bountiful RedHawks dismantled No. 6 Salem Hills 4-1 Wednesday in the 5A softball one-loss bracket at the Taylorsville Complex. Ella Miller posted 11 strikeouts in seven innings of work to earn the win in the circle for the RedHawks. Rilyne Keck drove in a run in the loss for the Skyhawks. Bountiful next plays No. 2 Springville Wednesday at 12:30 pm at the Taylorsville Complex.

TAYLORSVILLE, Utah-Kailee Hall drove in three runs and the No. 4 Box Elder Bees waxed No. 8 West Jordan 9-4 in the 5A softball one-loss bracket at the Taylorsville Complex Wednesday. Kellie Malan posted six strikeouts in five innings of work to earn the win in the circle for the Bees. Andrea Tagovailoa homered twice and Isabella Knight also went yard in the loss for the Jaguars. Box Elder next faces No. 1 Spanish Fork in several moments at the Taylorsville Complex, having escaped the one-loss bracket.
