KEARNS, Utah-Gabino Rodriguez and Alejandro Carlos Barragan each scored and the No. 16 Kearns Cougars blanked No. 17 Spanish Fork 2-0 in the first round of the 5A state boys soccer playoffs Friday. Leonel Calvillo Perez earned the shutout in the net in victory for Kearns. The Cougars next visit No. 1 Wasatch Tuesday at 4:00 pm in the second round of the state playoffs.
PROVO, Utah-The No. 23 West Jordan Jaguars upset No. 10 Timpview 4-3 on penalty kicks Friday in the first round of the 5A state boys soccer playoffs. The Jaguars next visit No. 7 Roy Tuesday at 4:00 pm in the second round of the state playoffs. Kobe Lerma and Jude Boxx scored in the loss for the Thunderbirds.
SPANISH FORK, Utah-Jace Pollock and Corbin Gardner each scored twice and the No. 14 Maple Mountain Golden Eagles routed No. 19 Cedar Valley 6-1 in the first round of the 5A state boys soccer playoffs Friday. The Golden Eagles next visit No. 3 Salem Hills in the second round of the state playoffs Tuesday at 4:00 pm.
WASHINGTON TERRACE, Utah-Jordan Uitdenbogaard, Colby Stone and Ashton Duran each scored and the No. 15 Bonneville Lakers blanked No. 18 Skyline 3-0 Friday in the first round of the 5A state boys soccer playoffs. The Lakers next visit No. 2 East Tuesday at 4:00 pm in the second round of the state playoffs.
BOUNTIFUL, Utah-Thomas Thorne, Elias Pacheco and Cody Forbes each scored and the No. 9 Bountiful RedHawks outlasted No. 24 Cyprus 3-2 in the first round of the 5A state boys soccer playoffs Friday. The RedHawks next visit No. 8 Brighton in the second round of the state playoffs Tuesday at 4:00 pm.
BOUNTIFUL, Utah-Zach Despain scored the sole goal of the match and the No. 22 Woods Cross Wildcats upset No. 11 Viewmont 1-0 Friday in the first round of the 5A state boys soccer playoffs. Woods Cross next visits No. 6 Box Elder Tuesday at 4:00 pm in the second round of the state playoffs.
