WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif.-Brett Wisely homered in the bottom of the 9th and the Sacramento River Cats outlasted Salt Lake 3-2 Saturday at Sutter Health Park in the season opener for both squads.
Trenton Brooks added an RBI single for the River Cats in the win. Nick Avila earned the win on the mound for Sacramento, posting two strikeouts in one inning of work.
Chad Wallach homered in defeat for the Bees.
The squads will play a doubleheader Sunday at Sutter Health Park to make up for the postponement of the game scheduled for Friday.
The first game will have an opening pitch at 2:05 pm MDT.
