(Salt Lake City, UT) — The first minority judge in the state of Utah has passed away. Former district court judge and Ogden native Raymond Uno died at the age of 93 on Friday. Uno also used to serve as the deputy Salt Lake County Attorney and the state’s Assistant Attorney General, while being a civil rights activist. Uno moved away from Utah as a boy and was later put into an internment camp following the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941. Attorney General Sean Reyes called Uno “larger than life” and added “his humor and humanity will be greatly missed.”
