This photo shows the Utah State Capitol, Thursday, March 14, 2013, in Salt Lake City. Utah lawmakers are entering the final day of what has been a relatively quiet 45-day legislative session. By constitutional rule the Legislature must end its session Thursday, which often means the stroke of midnight. Lawmakers are wrapping up negotiations on a number of bills, including proposals to change the state's liquor and gun laws, and putting the finishing touches on a roughly $13 billion state budget. Utah Legislature Looking To Pass Bill Nullifying NDA’s For Harassment And Assault

(Salt Lake City, UT) — People who experience sexual harassment or assault at work, and have previously signed an NDA, may soon be able to speak out. The Employment Confidentiality Amendments would keep Utah businesses from being able to have employees sign a nondisclosure agreement or a non-disparagement clause. Republican representative Kera Birkeland’s bill has been flying through the house and would extend to any already signed NDAs as well. This bill would act in unison with the federal Speak Now Act of 2022 that nullifies NDA’s signed before abuse.
