OGDEN, Utah-Tuesday, Weber State senior linebacker Winston Reid was named as one of 30 finalists nationally for the Buck Buchanan Award. This is annually presented to the national defensive player of the year in NCAA FCS football.
Reid, a former Copper Hills High School star, posted a Big Sky Conference-best 10.5 tackles per game this season.
He also recorded 12 tackles for a loss, a pair of forced fumbles, a pick six and six pass breakups this season.
He was named the FCS National Defensive Player of the Week in a November 11 win over Idaho after posting a career-high 17 tackles in the 31-29 win over the Vandals.
