ST. GEORGE, Utah-Tuesday, Utah Tech football freshman receiver Beau Sparks was named as one of 22 national finalists for the Jerry Rice Award.
This is annually bestowed upon the top freshman in NCAA FCS football.
The 6’4″ 255-pound Sparks, out of Franklin High School of El Paso, Texas, led the United Athletic Conference with 74 receptions, and was fifth in the conference with 723 receiving yards and tied for fourth in the UAC with 7 touchdown grabs.
The winner will be announced December 6 and the award will be presented January 6, 2024 at Frisco, Texas, on the eve of the NCAA FCS National Championship game.
