SALT LAKE CITY-Armando Alvarez belted a grand slam and the Sacramento River Cats edged Salt Lake 4-3 Thursday at Smith’s Ballpark. Mason Black posted four strikeouts in five innings of work to earn the win on the mound for Sacramento. Black is 3-4 on the season.
Preston Palmeiro, Kevin Padlo and Chris Okey each drove in a run in defeat for the Bees.
Sacramento improved to 66-80 while Salt Lake fell to 68-78.
The Bees and River Cats return to action Friday at 6:35 pm at Smith’s Ballpark.
